 Duties and responsibilities:

  • To support, guide, train and coach MoH nurses in OTH ER department to improve quality of care, focussed on nursing care.
  • To support development of | and provide trainings for medical staff in OTH to improve knowlegde and skills.
  • To provide bedside training and hands on support for the MoH nurses in the ER department to improve practical nursing skills.
  • To build and maintain good working relationship with MoH nursing team in OTH ER department, in order to create positive learning environment.
  • To be a continuous professional role model and resource person, supporting the daily nursing care in the ER department.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and staff information according to universal medical ethics.
  • Support nurses in OTH ER department with carrying out admission, surveillance and follow-up of patients
  • Support nurses in OTH ER with organizing and carrying out care and treatments according to medical prescriptions, and assisting during consultations, daily rounds and other medical procedures. Participating in health education of the patient (and family) when necessary.
  • Carrying and supervising administrative procedures and documents (fill in patient’s files, forms, consumptions, statistics, registers, health files, etc.), ensuring an appropriate written/oral handover, and reporting any problematic situations and cases that may arise.
  • To follow IPC measures in Emergency Department and be a role model for (medical) staff related to application of IPC measures.
  • To train, coach and guide staff in OTH on hygiene protocols and IPC measures, in order to improve awareness and knowledge. 
  • Support project emergency preparedness related to MCP, cholera and possible other predefined scenario’s (including COVID-19), with facilitations of trainings (and simulations) for all involved staff (for example case definitions, case management, etc). 
  • Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks of medical devices are performed according to the protocols.
  • Reporting any malfunction to the biomedical service to the linemanager.
  • Give feedback/ reports to respective line manager.
  • Participate in (medical) meetings and regular reporting on project level.
  • Flexibility be reassigned to other tasks and working locations if indicated in order to support MSF medical activities.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: Essential recognized nurse degree/diploma. Desirable Bachelor in Science of Nursing

Desirable specialisation in Emergency Care and/or Infection Control and Prevention

  • Experience:
    • Desirable 2 years of previous experience and previous experience in other NGO’s
    • Demonstrable experience in supervising and training others in a team setting
    • Desirable previous experience in hospital settings, specifically Emergency Department or Infection Control and Prevention.
  • Languages: Fluency in Arabic. English desirable.
