Duties and responsibilities:

Provide training, coaching and mentorship for all clinical officers and medical doctors in the ER department through bedside training and hands on support to improve clinical casemanagement

Apply medical knowledge for rapid first assesment, life threathing conditions, and mass cassuality incidents, according unified standard protocols.

Keep informed the patient and his/her relative (s) about his/her condition, procedures, diagnosis, evolution and prognosis; with respect and confidentiality, humanism and empathy.

Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized patients, through daily visits , consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following not only MSF protocols, but other international standard protocols used in OTH ER department

Coach and train the OTH ER team in decision making based on rational and medical knowledge, whether they need to be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors-

Informed his/her supervisor about any trouble that can not be solved before or ir is beyond his/her activités, for a better outcome in the benefit of the patient.

Assure the rational distribution and needs of medicines are giving correctly and in the time needed. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards and aseptic procedures.

Participate, facilitate and ensure ongoing trainings for and with the doctors, clinical officers, nurses and other staff according to the needs, to build capacity and optimize the Quality of care.

Ensure patient file management is done accordingly, including that all medical data Is recorded in time and all required forms are correctly filled in the medical files, starting inthe triage through all the patient flow in the ER.

Follow IPC measures in Emergency Department and be a role model for (medical) staff related to application of IPC measures.

Participate in Morbidity and Mortality reviews, andsupport OTH ER team to further improve quality of care. .

Support project emergency prepardeness related to MCP, cholera and possible other predefined scenario’s, with facilitations of trainings (and simulations) for all involved staff (for example case definitions, casemanagement, etc).

Participate in (medical) meetings and regular reporting on project level. Flexibility be reassigend to other working locations if indicated in order to support MSF medical activities
