The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an impartial, neutral and independent organisation striving to protect and assist the victims of war and internal violence, has been working in Sudan since 1978. The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person for the following position in Elfashir: Agronomist 2

Purpose:

Agronomist 2 plans, implements and monitors the Economic Security (EcoSec) Unit’s agriculture programmes in line with the country strategy and under the supervision and guidance of Head of sub-delegation.

Working under supervision and with support from Agronomist delegate, Economic Security Generalist 3 or Economic Security Coordinator, has most of the following responsibilities:

·         Designs or adjusts data-collection tools and Collects data using data-collection tools and devices.

·         Enters data into and maintains the survey database and the EcoSec Programme Management Tool (EPMT).

·         Performs basic qualitative and quantitative data analysis.

·         Describes results and produces data visualizations.

·         Contributes to identifying response options by analysing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT).

·         Contributes to designing a suitable method for registering beneficiaries.

·         Contributes to developing methods, plans, implementation, logistics and reporting for aid distribution.

·         Carries out on-site aid distributions.

·         Contributes to designing and implementing an agriculture programme (seed multiplication, seed and tool distribution and capacity-building).

·         Contributes to analysing the security, socioeconomic, cultural and political environment as it relates to the ICRC.

·         Contributes to internal reporting. Translates documents for internal use and interprets upon request.

·         Contributes to the organizing and providing capacity-building activities.

·         Provides administrative support.

·         Technical degree (2–3 years) or bachelor’s degree (BA) in agronomy.

·         Very good knowledge of the socio-political environment of the country, especially Darfur states

·         minimum 3 years of experience in adapted agricultural technology, seed management, plant genetic resources, supervision of on-farm trials, participatory methods, or similar position

·         Very good command of English, spoken and written

·         Expert level in computer skills

·         Readiness to spend 50-75% of the time in the field mainly Darfur.

·         Driving license

·         Skilled in the following competencies: Leadership, Accountability, People management, Team work & Collaboration, Representing the ICRC, Beneficiary & Client focused.
