 Background:

The project „Employment Initiative Khartoum“ seeks to improve the job prospects of refugees and the local population in the capital of Sudan. As an advisor for vocational training, you work in a team of international and national staff to improve access to market-oriented vocational training. By introducing new curricula and strengthening the capacities of existing institutions for vocational training, you contribute to providing prospects for a prosperous future to young people in Khartoum.


The duty station is Khartoum. Occasional duty travel may be required.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

A. Responsibilities
The position holder is responsible for:

  • Supporting the country director and GIZ projects in their strategic communication with donors, partners and target groups;
  • Supporting the country director and project managers in managing internal communication channels;
  • Coordinating the development and implementation of the GIZ Sudan communication strategy;
  • Ensuring the alignment of GIZ Sudan communication measures with corporate and donor visibility guidelines.

In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:
B. Tasks

  • Supporting the overall planning of the project, including contributions to identifying and analyzing relevant actors, assessing capacity needs, developing concepts and strategies;
  • Contributing to the design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities;
  • Advising local partner institutions;
  • Organising event and workshops;
  • Translating verbally as well as in writing between English and Arabic;
  • Coordinating the assignments of international and national consultants;
  • Drafting reports, briefings, analyses, meeting minutes and other documents as required;
  • Supporting procurement and contracting processes from the technical side according to GIZ standards;
  • Liaising with the technical advisors for vocational training of other GIZ projects to create synergies and avoid duplications.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • University degree (at least Bachelor or equivalent) in engineering, social sciences or another relevant field;
  • At least three years of work experience in a relevant field;
  • Experience in project planning, implementation and evaluation;
  • Experience in the promotion of vocational training, education, or
  • Excellent English and Arabic communication skills, both verbally and in writing;
  • Proficiency in the use Microsoft office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook);
  • Flexibility, high self-initiative and creative thinking in developing client-oriented solutions;
  • Ability to work efficiently with tight deadlines and competing priorities;
  • Excellent inter-cultural and inter-personal competencies.
