The UNFPA Internship Programme offers students the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UNFPA operations. It is designed to complement primarily development-oriented studies or studies in related fields with practical experience

Applicants should have expressed interest in the field of development; ability to adapt to new environments and work with individuals from different cultural backgrounds. Interns work under the supervision of a staff member at UNFPA. The background of the interns is matched with the needs of the organization.

The incumbent will assist in:

• Follow up with UNDP to ensure that all payments had been processed and Cheques had been issued.
• Receives, records all requests incoming requests for the Finance Unit and transfer to Finance Associate for action.
• Extracting, inputting, copying and filing data from various sources.
• Assist to claim VAT (Value added Tax) for UNFPA.
• Preparing bank transfer letters and follow up with the UNDP Finance Unit / Bank to ensure that transfer of money to the field is transferred to the end beneficiaries.
• Inform Program officers and IPs of the status of their payments
• Maintenance of the proper filing system for financial records and documents.
• Performs other duties as required.

The following qualifications are required for consideration:

• Students should be enrolled in an advanced degree programme or have recently graduated;
• Students must have written and spoken proficiency in English and Arabic

Financial Aspects:

Interns do not receive a salary from UNFPA. In addition, applicants must have medical insurance for the duration of the internship. Proof of insurance will need to be submitted before the internship begins.
