 Background:

CARE is seeking an experienced, dynamic and highly innovative Programming Funding Coordinator, which is a critical position within CARE Sudan and combines two important functions. The fundraising function involves establishing and maintaining strategic relations with relevant donors; mapping potential opportunities, preparing a business development strategy for CARE Sudan and developing high quality and innovative proposals to secure funding in line with CARE’s strategy in Sudan. Identifying new traditional and non-traditional donors and maintaining relationships with all donors, UN agencies, private sectors and other stakeholders are key responsibility of this position. The post holder will also maintain excellent relationships with CARE Member Partner team members who directly liaise with donors in their respective countries. S/he will ensure the established proposal and program development processes are followed and will maintain a good rapport with relevant team members (in Khartoum and in the field), partners and peer agencies as needed. The Program and Funding Coordinator will also develop an in-depth understanding of the operating context in Sudan, the humanitarian and long term development programming opportunities, needs and gaps so that the proposals submitted by CARE are grounded in sound assessments and an in-depth understanding of the context.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, he/she will ensure timely and high-quality reporting to donors; work collaboratively with Program Director, managers, and technical experts to obtain the necessary information to produce donor reports according to predetermined time frames. S/he will ensure, together with the MEAL staff within CARE Sudan, that the project monitoring, accountability and learning systems support donor reporting requirements; develop/ review reporting templates for field teams to gather case studies and other qualitative information to support the quantitative output based data that will be gathered through regular project monitoring. The position holder will also be responsible to building capacity of program staff in writing report and success stories.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Required:
• Master’s degree in International Development, Public Health / Nutrition, Social Science or related field.
• Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in program development, proposal writing, fundraising and/or business development in an NGO
• Experience and knowledge in preparing competitive bids for DFID, EU, USAID/OFDA, ECHO, GAC, UN Agencies and other donors
• Demonstrated success in the area of new business development
• Experience of working in a stressful environment.
• Excellent proposal writing skills
• Ability to work with people of various cultures
• Entrepreneurial spirit and strong business acumen
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team and provide leadership in team efforts
• Excellent proposal writing, communication, interpersonal skills and donor engagement skills
• Ability to do multi-tasking and meeting deadlines 
• Solutions-oriented thinking
• Excellent oral and written English skills
