 Duties and responsibilities:

Leadership: The DRM Manager is responsible for leading the strategic design, providing the strategic direction and steering the strategic implementation of Disaster Preparedness Plans, Contingency Plans (with constant monitoring of risks and scenarios), and Emergency Response Plans, taking into consideration the followings:

  • Vulnerability of children and specially girls that influence new areas for Plan’s operations
  • Strong and evidenced advisory for GO or No Go in case of emergency
  • Plan’s Program Quality and Influencing Policies and Procedures, particularly DRM Influencing Framework 2017-2022.
  • Plan’s DRM manuals and position papers.

 

Management: The DRMM works closely with Program Area Managers and Projects Managers to implement projects on the ground and with the DRR Focal Point Person who reports to him\her on technical issues. S/He supports DRM capacity building initiatives, identifies and documents good practices and ensures humanitarian learning across the organization in Sudan, as well as knowledge management.

Representation, Fund Raising and Capacity Building: The DRM Manager represents Plan Sudan in major fora of Humanitarian actors and supports CMT objectives to build Plan’s credibility and recognition as a key player in disaster risk management in country. S/He also ensures our partners have the required capacity to be prepared and respond to shocks and our communities are resilient enough to absorb them. The appointed staff is supporting our business development and fund raising for Plan’s humanitarian work


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

The post holder should have a Bachelor’s degree in Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics or other related fields. Master degree is preferable. Degrees in disaster related field will be an advantage with at least 5 years of experience in relief/disaster response including management responsibility in implementing or coordinating disaster preparedness and response at national level, including with an INGO

  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to motivate the whole team
  • Independent, enthusiastic with ability to accomplish duties assigned in pressured environments 
  • Good communication skills with a strong command in the English language

 


Salary and Benefits:
