Muslim Aid is a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters, conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease and illiteracy. It was established in the United Kingdom in 1985 in response to the drought in the Horn of Africa. Muslim Aid's Sudan Country office (MASCO) was set up in 1991 in response to the strategic need and to enable the continuation of effective aid work in the country. Currently, Muslim Aid is implementing projects in Kassala, Central Darfur and Red Sea State , Algazieera State , Gdarief State in Sudan.

 Background:

Muslim Aid is an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) that has been working in Sudan since 1991 in response to conflict, drought and famine. MAS focuses on the links and integration of food security, livelihoods, health, nutrition and WASH and works in partnership with other International and local NGOs.

Muslim Aid – Sudan is seeking to recruit a suitable qualified Sudanese national for the position of Assistant Program Officer based in Khartoum with significant field travel. The Assistant Program Officer will support administrative and programmatic activities, data collection and communication, documenting of lessons learned as well as undertake specific programmatic activities.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Administrative

  • Provide administrative and practical support to all existing programs within Muslim Aid Sudan.
  • To assist in ensuring that programs, comply with all policies and procedures, international humanitarian, child and vulnerable adults’ protection and development standards, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • To make follow up and ensure timely correspondence, quarterly progress/completion reports including financial reports are produced in a timely and accurate manner in line with requirements for both donor/country office.
  • Initiate and support the process of technical proposals for the raised calls for proposals.
  • Close and supportive follow-up to program team through regular communications, field visits and other suitable activities.

Program Development

  • To assist in undertaking appropriate research that strengthens various aspects of program development
  • Follow up on the implementation of the ongoing projects.
  • Monitor the implementation process and make the required corrective actions as appropriate in close consultation with the Program Team.

Reporting and Documentation

  • To maintain program files and archives, prepare drafts of the requested reports, information and proposals, ensures tracking of the documents, timely responses to their quests, inquiries.
  • To respond to external enquiries and monitoring/analyzing traffic to the department in order to develop most suitable approaches to material dissemination.
  • Prepare quality progress reports for donors, partners and other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Ensure all Muslim Aid relevant projects are well documented on the project database.

Communication

  • Supervise and support communication with the target communities and ensure the communication is effective.
  • Contribute to editing of the organizations’ annual report and other publications as required.
  • Participate in the relevant cluster meetings with partners and stakeholders.

Field Support

  • Liaise with local authorities, partner organizations, NGOs, government bodies and clusters at base level.
  • Any other relevant duty assigned by the management.

  • At least 3 years’ experience in programam development and implementation experience with any INGO or UN in sectors such as; health, nutrition, WASH, FSL, education, or others
  • Knowledge of office systems and practice
  • Knowledge of Issues around International Development
  • Experience in the use of community participatory methodologies in emergency and development operation
  • Experience in training, advocacy for change and ability to influence behavior
