 Salary: Ranging between: 7,680.55 - 8,467.80 SDG Monthly Gross salary depending on experience and qualifications; the equivalent net monthly salary will be paid in hard currency (GBP) ranging between: 661.33 – 726.99 GBP; plus other RedR benefits.

 Duty Station: Khartoum with frequent travel to RedR field office

RedR UK is an international humanitarian NGO that provides training and technical support to aid workers and humanitarian organisations around the world. We also work to build the resilience of disaster-prone communities, ensuring that they have the knowledge and skills to prepare for, respond to and recover from crises.

Since 2005, RedR UK Sudan has been providing high-quality training and capacity-building for humanitarian actors from our national HQ in Khartoum, our Darfur office in El Fasher, and across the country.

Our priorities in Sudan are as follows:

  • To support the life-saving response to basic needs by contributing expertise across multiple sectors and facilitating the improvement of operational capacity in these areas.
  • To develop the capacity of national and local government and non-government actors, expanding our assistance to key line ministries and key local actors in all aspects of humanitarian project management.

 

RedR is seeking a qualified candidate for Finance Coordinator position, which is based in Khartoum with frequent travel to RedR field office, El Fasher, in Darfur and where necessary other areas where RedR may operate.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Overall Responsibility

  1. The Finance Coordinator is responsible for the finance and accounting team overseeing a range of key tasks including Finance, Accounting, expenditure, budget control, Procurement and contracts, etc.
  2. Lead on financial management for redr resources in Sudan
  3. Assists the CD in the development and implementation of annual budgeting, regular reforecasting, monitoring expenditure and ongoing facilitation of payments and transactions.
  4. Act as the focal point for all external queries regarding financial commitments and liabilities with donors, partners, government and redr HQ.

 

Job Description

The list does not cover the full scope of tasks and responsibilities of the Finance Coordinator but serves to illustrate some of the areas of emphasis for the post.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

Finance management

  • Record financial transactions on Quickbooks Online, in line with RedR & donor requirements.
  • Check and monitor the field office sub-account transactions and incorporate in reports.
  • Check advance payment transactions and report accordingly
  • Manage and reconcile of bank/cash and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial record and provide information when required.
  • Ensure financial and resource accountability and effective management of records as required for auditing.
  • Coordinate any interim and annual audit.
  • Proper accounting of project recoveries and income recognition, including justification of allocation of central costs to projects.
  • Ensure adherence to the RedR Sudan finance and administration guidelines and Sudanese Government tax and accounting regulations.
  • Work with the Country Director and Budget Holders with preparation of organisational and project budgets.
  • Establish and prepare accurate Budget versus Actual reports for financial monitoring and progress of programme funds and grants.
  • Prepare and submit monthly financial accounts and reports to Head Office within deadlines.
  • Prepare monthly cash flow projections, assisting the Training Team Leader / Head of Office preparing the same according to donor requirements, as requested.
  • Collection and storage of regular financial reports and budget records
  • Assist in the preparation of donor reporting, interim and final.
  • Any other duties specified by (Line Manager) that are appropriate to undertake.

 

Achievement Indicators

  • Effective support services are provided in very professional manner.
  • Effective contracts administration in order to assist programme management teams to deliver RedR Sudan’s goal and objectives.
  • RedR Sudan operating procedures are updated and well kept and disseminated among staff.
  • Effective, timely and reliable advice to CMT Country that is compliant with RedR Sudan policies;
  • Good image of RedR Sudan by providing information and facts about RedR to donors, the public and the media, if needs be.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Person Specification

Essential

  • Strong commitment to humanitarian work, with a minimum of 8 years experience in the field of financial management and accounting preferably working with INGO’s .
  • BSC in Finance and/or accounting
  • Proven experience in financial accounting of not less than five years
  • Proven experience with computer accounting packages, experience of Quickbooks would be an advantage.
  • Experience of accounting in a multi-currency environment.
  • Excellent computer literacy in Excel and Word
  • Experience in liaising with HAC, NGOs, UN and other organizations.
  • Strong office administrative experience
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proactive, good organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Experience in capacity building and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good people management skills, including negotiation and diplomacy
  • Good computer literacy, with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good English and Arabic language skills, both spoken and written
  • Willing and able to travel to remote areas of operations
  • Ability to work well in a team, within a multicultural setting
  • Flexibility and a can-do approach, and the ability to work without supervision
  • Solution oriented and able to adapt to changing and insecure environments
  • An understanding of and interest in humanitarian issues in Darfur
  • To be familiar with RedR’s vision and mission, and Sudan programme and be willing to promote this in the humanitarian sector in Sudan

 

Desirable

 Postgraduate in Business management is desirable
