Background:
The Environmental Health Officer (EHO) will lead the implementation of the sanitation and hygiene part of the WASH program in Naivasha (Um Bada locality), Khartoum State, and support the program manager in implementing the overall WASH program effectively.
|
|
Duties and responsibilities:
-
The EHO is responsible for the sanitation and hygiene component of the program which includes training of community based hygiene promoters,
-
conducting hygiene promotion and cleaning campaigns, excreta disposal, solid waste disposal, drainage systems, vector control, general constructions,
-
participate in emergency response initiatives, and provide technical and managerial oversight to hygiene promoters, community members and partners.

At this juncture in the program, refining current programming and developing culturally appropriate and contextual new sanitation and hygiene curriculum in collaboration with other team members, SMOH and the WASH cluster will be a priority.

The EHO is responsible for the planning, implementation, budget disbursement and monitoring of the sanitation and hygiene component of the projects in the State Provide technical support to WASH team

Coordinate with key stakeholder on federal and state level, i.e. beneficiaries, communities, authorities, NGOs, clusters and other, coordination forums, CIS partners, contractors etc. , Work closely with all CIS field offices as well as with Khartoum team

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Environmental / Public health/ Civil or Water Engineering or equivalent
-
At least one year experience with any organization in planning and implementing WASH or public health programs focusing on hygiene promotion, sanitation and community mobilization in emergency and / or development contexts

Ability to effectively plan, organize and manage project implementation
-
Problem solving and decision making skills

Good knowledge in monitoring, has ability to compile, analyze data and prepare report

Demonstrated analytic and conceptual skills in relevant field
-
Good team player with flexibility: Has demonstrated proactive roles in teamwork. Able to work in team context

Good interpersonal and facilitation skills: Ability to conduct and facilitate training
-
Knowledge and skills in networking: Has ability to effectively deal with GO/NGO and other counterparts / partners
-
Good communication skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English; Ability to write reports in both English and Arabic, and translate documents

Has demonstrated leadership roles, and ability to organize people to involve in program activities. Knowledge and skills in resource management
-
Willing to work with the disadvantaged / vulnerable people in difficult situations
