The Role of the Finance Assistant is to provide finance service to Khartoum Office and other field’s offices as required, addressing issues of finance and provide relevant information to meet internal and external demands. These services may include, but are not limited to, handling blank cheque, writing cheque once the pay-cycle is approved, get cheques signed by authorized signatories, processing  cheque payments to vendors , , maintain soft and hard copy of financial documents (Vouchers, Journals) maintain sub ledger, entering of financial transactions into  accounting system.


 Duties and responsibilities:

Some of the duties  include but  not limited to:

  • Ensure proper filing of all CARE offices financial records, in a manner that allows easy retrieval of the records for audit and any other management reviewing purposes, documents should be filed in sequence and folder has content and well labeled
  • Collect cash/cheque from staff or vendors for reimbursement and issue CARE official receipt as an acknowledgement of cash
  • Prepare bank wire transfer letter to field office as well as vendors when necessary.
  • Ensure all cheque are submitted to authorize signatories based on the designated threshold amount.  Strictly follow up the signing of cheque and once signed keep all the cheque in the safe box until it is delivered to payee.
  • Assist Finance Officer in data entry into financial system
  • Maintain spreadsheets for the movement of cash for the bank account in Khartoum with support of finance officer.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

· Bachelor's degree in commerce, preferably in Finance / Accounting

· At least 1 year relevant experience, preferably in International agencies

· Strong interpersonal skills

· Ability to work punctually under pressure, and in emergency situations in particular

· Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English (written, spoken)

· Computer skills (word processing, Spreadsheet) are essential.

· ability to work in a team environment

· Basic understanding of accounting processes and procedures, Record keeping,

· Ability to respect deadlines, multitask and to deal with heavy workloads

· Commitment to assure quality, speed and accuracy in performing duties.
