It was established in the United Kingdom in 1985 in response to the drought in the Horn of Africa. Muslim Aid's Sudan Country office (MASCO) was set up in 1991 in response to the strategic need and to enable the continuation of effective aid work in the country. Currently, Muslim Aid is implementing projects in Kassala and Red Sea State in Sudan.

Muslim Aid-UK is seeking to recruit a suitable qualified Sudanese national for the position of Logistics Officer based in Central Darfur State.

Under the direct supervision of the Officer in Charge – Central Darfur office and in close collaboration with the Head of Operations in Khartoum Office, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for providing support to ongoing activities with procurement and logistics services of MA in Central Darfur State. S/he will contribute to providing recommendations aimed at increasing effectiveness and efficiency of ethical procurement and logistical management in the program

 Duties and responsibilities:

Facilities Management

  • Supervise and organise all maintenance and repairs for MA premises (office, warehouse and guesthouses) and equipment therein, ensuring they are compliant with standards.
  • Maintain and update a database of skilled contractors, such as electricians, constructors, carpenters.
  • Implement the agreed energy setup for the MA structures & ensure their correct operation.
  • Ensure a permanent functioning electrical supply through city power and generator backups through hardware maintenance procedures, including ensuring a minimum stock of fuel and electricity bills are paid within the stipulated time frame.
  • Follow up and report in fuel and spare part consumption, observing and reporting irregularities and making recommendations to improve efficiency while minimizing costs.
  • Ensure the guesthouse facilities are maintained, regularly cleaned and aired and that utilities are in sufficient supply for use by visiting staff.



  • Ensure proper servicing, maintenance and repair of vehicles, in accordance with MA standards. Any irregularities to be investigated and reported to the Sub-Office in charge and Khartoum Office.
  • Ensure records are kept for mileage driven fuel added and the vehicle log book maintained, including for rented vehicles. At month end provide an analysis on vehicle use to be charged to the different projects being implemented by the Sub-Office.
  • Fuel consumption tracking and reporting implemented and responsibility for/supervision of fueling at all times and report any anomalies to the Sub-Office in charge.
  • Ensure all vehicles have up to date licenses, registration, and insurance and ensure timely renewal of the same.



  • Identify transport companies and deploy effective and reliable vehicles for transporting personnel, materials and equipment needed in programme implementation.

Assets and Inventories:

  • Keep an up to list of all assets within the sub-office, ensuring that they are all tagged and conducting regular inventory count to ascertain the working condition of the asset.
  • Ensure updated inventory lists from the sub-office are sent to Khartoum office on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for ensuring fire safety equipment and procedures across the Sub-Office and all its facilities are in good order and are serviced as necessary.
  • Establish and monitor a tracking system for commodities, supplies, equipment and project assets within the Sub-Offices and maintaining a functioning relationship with partners (where required) on the ground in regard to the joint warehouse and supply chain management.   


Supply Chain/Procurement

  • Contribute to the implementation of procedures for warehouse operations that are compliant with MA general instructions, policies and donor requirements.
  • Monitor and update the database of vendor/contractor prequalification and evaluation status to ensure a pool of reliable vendors and contractors to address the needs of the Sub-Office.
  • Responsible for all Procurement actions within the Sub-Office and ensuring they are effectively and efficiently managed in conformity with MA guidelines and procedure, including issuing call for tenders and bidding documents.
  • Verify the transparency and compliance with MA Procurement Manual within the Sub-Office.
  • Support and build capacity of local partner’s logistics assistants and officers (where possible).
  • Ensure that procurement and expenditures comply with accounting policies of donors and MA SOPs.
  • Ensure the correct authorization procedures at every step of the process i.e. documents signature, budget management, quality control for incoming goods, payments

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • A degree in Logistics, Procurement, Business Administration or a related field from a recognized institution with at least 3 years of relevant pro; equivalent years’ experience can be accepted in compensation should MA Management consider them acceptable.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Logistics/Procurement preferably with INGOs.
  • Working knowledge of both English and Arabic is required (both written and spoken).
  • Excellent computer skills and competence with Microsoft Office environment.
  • Good conceptual, presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Willingness to travel in the project areas as required;
  • Demonstrable willingness to learn and resourceful attitude
  • Must be a Sudanese National
