The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is seeking for qualified candidate to fill the following post:

 Background:

The UNHCR Sub Office in Kassala provides protection and assistane to persons of concern living in refugee camps through care and maintenance programme. Amongst basic social services provided in the camps are; Health, WASH, Education, Shelter, etc. The nine (9) refugee camps comprise 12 health centres; 3 in Wadhserefy, 2 in Shagarab 1 each in the remaining camps with full scale health staff supported by UNHCR programme.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Responsibilites: The incumbent of the position will support UNHCR Sub office Kassala in the following cpacities: a. Oversee and coordinate all health and nutrition activities of refugees and asylum seekers living in East sudan; b. Provide support to the program officer through the designing, planning, implementation and monitoring of all health and nutrition related activities of the Sub office; c. Regularly pay field visit in all health posts and centres to guide and support partners in the operationalization of the facilities, and ensure health equipment optimally utilized and maintained; d. Supervise Health Information System (HIS) data are collected in each health centre and camp and provide monthly report of same to UNHCR headquarters; e. Support medical doctors and staff in the management of tertiary and secodary medical referral cases; f. Provide technical support to nutrition programme by ensuring basic food supplements are in stoock and available to patients. g. In collaboration with operational and imlementing partners articulates UNHCR protection mandate in relation to provision of health services to persons of concern; h. Regularly participate in called meetings or hold sectoral coordination meetings to mitigate, respond and or address any emerging health needs including but not limited to contageous outbreaks; i. Conduct health and nutrition studies including nutrition surveys, or any study related to the health needs of persons of concern. j. Support the procurement of local and international medicines and medical supplies by laising with UNHCR headquarters and Supply unit in the field to ensure efficient management and delivery of medicines and suplies; k. Regularly monitor health centre’s pharmacies to maintain stock and dispose expire medicines and supplies; and l. As may be required, perform and discharge other functions on request of the operation or assigned. Monitoring and Progress Controls (reports requirements, periodicity, format, deadlines): 1. Provide monthly report on the health information system 2. Quarterly Performance Montoing Reports of partners


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

- University degree in Medicine, Nursing, Public Health or related field. - Minimum 2 years of previous job experience relevant to the function. - Knowledge of local institutions. - Excellent knowledge of English and working knowledge of local language.
