The GIZ Project Office in Gedaref is looking for a qualified person to fill the following position. We highly motivate women to apply.

Technical Advisor for Sport for Development (Sport 4 Development). The Person will be stationed in Gedaref/Kassala (to be defined)


 Duties and responsibilities:

The Sport4Development Technical Advisor will advise the implementation sport activities in the context the VTFS Project to attract youth to vocational training and develop the employability skills of youth through sport. Moreover, the Sport 4 Development component aims to promote gender equity and the social inclusion of refugees and migrants through sport. Specific tasks include: 


  • Introduce the concept of Sport for Development and make it understandable to persons involved in VTFS;
  • Identify innovative approaches for establishing and promoting Sport 4 Development activities as part of vocational training at the Gedaref and Kassala Vocational Training Center and coordinate the associated activities;
  • Implement and coordinate 'train-the-trainer' courses in the area of Sport 4 Development
  • Advise on the management and maintenance of the planned multi-purpose sport infrastructure at the Gedaref VTC;
  • Develop concepts and implement activities related to the promotion of gender equity and the social inclusion of refugees and migrants through sport;
  • Monitor and report on Sport 4 Development activities.

Task/additional tasks

  • Performs other tasks as requested by the management;

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:


  • University degree in sport-, political- or social sciences or humanities;

Professional experience

  • At least 3-5 years’ professional experience in a comparable position;

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Very high communication skills;
  • Very high understanding of gender equality;
  • Excellent management and organisational skills;
  • Basic computer skills (word, excel etc.);
  • Fluent written and oral knowledge of Arabic and English.
