 Background:

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU), GIZ will start implementing a new project in Blue Nile State/Sudan. The project aims at improving the livelihoods of the local population in the border area of the Blue Nile State/Sudan and the BenishangulGumuz Region/Ethiopia. For the support of the Vocational Training Center (VTC) in Ed Damazin, GIZis looking for a qualified and experienced person to fill the following position:

Vocational Training  (VT) and Private Sector Development (PSD)  Advisor in Ed Damazin

TheGoverment of the Republic of Sudan and its institutions are the main partners in Sudan for the project “Cross-Border Collaboration Programme in Western Ethiopia and Eastern Sudan”, commissioned and supported by the German Development Ministry (BMZ)and the EU.GIZ iscurrently seeking for a qualified and experienced Sudanese candidate for the position of a local VT – PSD Advisor. The local Advisorwill work closely with the counterparts and stakeholders as well as,establishing cooperation with local businesses. The local Expert will be reporting to the international GIZ Head of Component in Ed Damazin.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

The position holder will have the following tasks:

  • Support technical advice and administrative support in activity area to local stakeholders, mainly SICU and partner enterprises to plan, organize, implement and assess Dual-Cooperative Training programs ( one year dual vocational training and short time courses ).
  • Support the establishment of a dialogue process between federal and regional Government institutions, the State Council for Vocational Training the Small Industries Union (SICU) and  enterprises with regards to job opportunities for job seekers,  unions and other stakeholders.
  • Providing accurate translations (English/Arabic) of documents and supporting GIZ and the VT Team (VTT) with interpreting (English/Arabic) during meetings and discussions with Sudanese partners on a daily basis.
  • Supporting the local project team with general administrative tasks as required.
  • Preparation of meetings, workshops and seminars.
  • Supporting and coordinating closely with local government agencies relevant for vocational schools.
  • Supporting and participating in internal and external (team) meetings and workshops and assisting with documenting these, e.g. by writing minutes.
  • Preparing and participating in field visits as required by the project.
  • Providing technical support to the project by dealing with questions and problems related to vocational training and labour market development.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Master’ degree in education or related discipline(s) or long-term professional experience in the sector
  • At least 3 years of working experience in TVET/skills development sector, ideally within vocational training
  • Extensive experience in working with the private sector
  • Ability to establish and maintain partnerships and cooperation arrangements
  • Ability to interact with representatives of the international community, government officials, employers
  • Diplomatic and effective communication skills at all levels
  • Strong drafting and report writing skills
  • Excellent English (written, spoken), experience with translation/interpretation is an advantage
  • Previous experience in international organizations, development cooperation and collaborating with governmental counterparts is an asset
  • Good knowledge of the Sudanese vocational training landscape and labor market
  • Excellent inter-cultural competencies and gender awareness
  • ExcellentIT skills (MS Office)
  • Willingness to work flexibly
