 Background:

The Better Migration Management Programme in Khartoum is looking for a qualified person to fill the following position:
Technical assistant for Better Migration Management Programme
With duty station in Khartoum and regular duty trips to other States in Sudan.

 

The Better Migration Management (BMM) programme is a cooperation between the European Commission and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It is financed by the European Union Emergency Trust Fund (EUTF) for Africa (Horn of Africa Window). The program is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fürInternationaleZusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in partnership with six other European and International agencies based on a comprehensive and holistic approach towards migration management.

The overall objective is to improve migration management in the region, and in particular to address the trafficking in Humans (ToH) and the Smuggling of Migrants (SoM) within and from the Horn of Africa.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the BMM technical advisor, the technical assistant is responsible for:

  • Monitoring and Evaluating of contracts implemented by national partners and/or service providers.
  • Providing organizational support to service providers and activities related to BMM component 1 and 3(Policy harmonization and Protection)

 

Tasks

1. Monitoring and evaluation

In close collaboration with BMM technical advisor:

  • Update regularly protection activities planning to be shared with technical advisor and the regional coordinator
  • closely monitor the implementation of IP’s activities in the protection component
  • Keep track of contracts with partners and manage communication that has to do with activity progress.
  • Closely monitor the implementation of activities by service providers.
  • Update regularly BMM filing system on DMS (GIZ Intranet) with the relevant document / reports related to C1/C3
  • Work closely with the advisor managing over BMM’s M&E

 

2. Provision of organizational support C1/C3

In close coordination with the technical advisor and in the framework of signed agreement/contracts, MoU with national and international organizations

  • facilitate relation and coordination b/w GIZ and partners.
  • support the organization of events related  to C1/C3
  • organize and conducts appropriate trainings
  • prepare necessary admin/procurement requests.
  • Assist the technical advisor in preparing cash forecast for activities based on monthly plan and signed contracts 
  • Assists short term experts and consultants in carrying out their missions

 

3. Other tasks

The technical assistant

  • Provides translation services to BMM coordinator/consultants  whenever required
  •  assists in updating and elaborating communication materials (Power Point Presentation, factsheet, banderols)
  • prepares appropriate inputs for BMM reports including annual reports, and contributes to the other reports required by BMM Coordinator and GIZ Head Office
  • Perform such other duties as assigned

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications

  • Degree in Development , Social Sciences , Management or  alternatively, an equivalent combination of training and experience in field of operations and or protection.

 

Professional experience

  • at least 5 years’ professional experience in a comparable position.

 

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Significant experience and comprehensive understanding of the competency based approach
  • very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
  • fluent written and oral knowledge of Arabic and English
  • Readiness to undertake field missions outside Khartoum
  • willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
