The GIZ Office in Khartoum is looking for a qualified person to fill the following position:

GIZ Sudan is looking for a qualified person to fill the following position: Cashier
The cashier is reporting to the Finance and Administration manager of the vocational training and food security for refugees and host communities project in Eastern Sudan.
On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Delegation of the European Union, GIZ started the implementation of a new project recently in Kassala and Gedaref. The project aims at improving the livelihoods of the local population and refugees alike in two areas of intervention:
1)    Supporting the government and the private sector in improving the quality and availability of market-oriented vocational training for young women and men;
2)    Supporting small industry unions in providing business development services (BDS) for employment-oriented growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.

He /She will be responsible for the following:

A. Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the Cash Box
  • Cash disbursements
  • Cash replenishment
  • Performing reconciliations
  • Assisting the Finance Officer

B. Tasks:

1. Managing the daily cash fund:

  • is responsible for cash based on the vouchers collected daily
  • reconciles the cash book and cash account daily
  • reports any surplus or shortfall in cash
  • reports without delay if the cash holding reaches a minimum level

2. General services:

  • Processes cash requests from departments
  • Makes payments as required
  • Processes settlement of applications for the reimbursement of travel expenses

3. Other duties/additional tasks:

  • performs other duties and tasks at the request of management

C. Required qualifications, competences and experience:

  • Qualification in business administration with a focus on accounting or related area
  • At least 2 years’ professional experience in a comparable position

D. Other knowledge, additional competences:

  • Basic knowledge of accounting software
  • Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
  • Very good knowledge of Arabic and English, ideally a knowledge of German
  • Willingness to up-skill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
