Organizational Context:

These jobs are found in WFP warehouses. Job holders report to the Warehouse Management Assistant/Associate or the designate. Job holders are exposed to all phases of the warehouse operations and work with minimum supervision. They may provide supervision and on-the-job training to other warehouse staff.

Job Purpose:

To handle receipt/dispatch and verification of commodities in order to maximise quality of warehouse operations and mitigate losses, and to support the best storage management practices in compliance with WFP warehouse standards and established guidelines.

Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive):

  • Responsible for building and counting the stacks as per WFP standards (counting the stack before and after any commodity authorized transaction).
  • In coordination with the warehouses storekeeper, plan the utilization of the warehouse - foundation of stacks and stacking of the receipt commodities ensuring the optimal usage of the storage space.
  • When required/approved, properly establish, implement and cover the out door-stacking commodities and immediately report any constraints to the warehouse storekeeper.
  • Apply all the required WFP warehouses procedures such as using pallets, sheets, random weighing, immediate re-bagging, reconstitution, re-stitching, and re-conditioning of any damage commodity.
  • Responsible for controlling any spillages observed/occurred on stacks or during the off-loading and loading processes (sieving, refilling, weighing and stitching).
  • Physically attend/monitor the discharging and loading/cross-loading processes and immediately update/sign on the stack cards.
  • Making sure the packing/expiry dates of commodities are always sound (logo, well stitched or closed, don’t load expired commodities).
  • In coordination with the supervisor, storekeeper conduct daily and monthly warehouses inspection/inventory of food quality, quantity and immediately report to supervisor any observations.
  • In consultation with Logistics Assistant, emphasize on the implementation of FIFO& LIFO exercise to maintain proper commodity handling and rotation of stocks and food quality control.
  • Maintaining the warehouse hygiene and working conditions as per WFP standards.
  • Generate LESS waybills upon receiving and dispatching commodities from warehouses.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Standard Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
Language: Fluency (level C) in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.

Desired Experiences for entry into the role:

  • Experience using logistics databases to extract routine reports.
  • Experience in managing warehouses with food and NFIs.
  • Experience in managing inventories.
  • Experience in processing invoices.
