Job Summary & Major Responsibilities:    

  • To position Plan as a co-lead of the national alliance against Child Marriage in Sudan by end of FY19:

             • Formulate civil society and activists alliances for girls’ equality in Sudan.
             • Pilot a database for FGM, Child Marriage, and girl’s drop out of school, with child’s welfare councils in one of Plan program areas.
             • Launch 3 national-level advocacy initiatives with the media and key stakeholders on girls’ education, ending FGM and CM.

  • Ensure that Plan International Sudan remains aware of and fully engaged with emerging trends and initiatives, particularly related to improving the rights of children and girls, both in Sudan and at a regional level.
  • Research and identify opportunities for new strategic partnerships and alliances with potential to expand and create impact in line with Plan’s CS for FY18 – 22.
  • Set clear influencing objectives, targets, audiences and activities, including advocacy, policy, campaigns, communications and partnerships.
  • Conduct strategic partners mapping exercise to identify strategic partners, conduct SWOT analysis and power analysis, and identify the opportunities and risks, with recommendations.
  • Contribute to the strengthening of national laws and policies through engaging in the monitoring of human rights and child rights instruments.

Qualifications, skills, competencies:

  • Post-graduate degree in International Development, with emphasis on gender and advocacy issues and/or any related degree.
  • Minimum Seven  (7) years’ experience.
  • Clear exposure to emergency contexts.
  • Deep understanding and technical knowledge on gender and influencing within a gender transformative programming as indicated by the duties above.
  • First-hand experience and knowledge of working on gender, advocacy and child rights issues.
  • Consistency on approach to work and decision-making.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills in multicultural contexts.
  • Ability to develop mutual trusting relationships with complex partnerships that have excellent business outcomes.
  • Ability to set a strong learning culture within their team and department.

Salary and Benefits:
Plan offers a very competitive salary and benefits package to its employees. The employee shall receive a gross salary of 2500 in USD. Plan also offers different allowances including health insurance, one month’s gross salary during Eid-ul Fitr, and an educational allowance (equivalent to one month’s gross salary) at the start of every school year to support the education of our staffs’ children.
