GIZ Sudan is looking for a qualified person to fill the following position: Risk Management Operations Officer.

Responsibilities include:
The Risk Management Operations Officer will provide an important operations function to the Risk Management team in Sudan and to the GIZ Country Office. They will provide senior Risk Management and Country Management staff with up to date information with regards to mission movements across The Sudan, keep up to date personnel lists and risk management documents, assist in drafting new risk management policy and provide operations support to the Country Crisis Management Team in the case of an emergency.

  • Providing operations support to GIZ Sudan’s Risk Management team in Khartoum.
  • Tracking GIZ mission movements across The Sudan and reporting to line manager.
  • Maintaining personnel and contact lists.
  • Assisting the Country Crisis Management Team in an emergency.

The Operations Officer performs the following tasks:
1. Operations:

  • Plots and tracks GIZ mission movements across the Sudan.
  • Maintains personnel and contacts lists/ databases.
  • Assists with setting up the Operations Room to support the Country Crisis Management Team.

2.  Knowledge and Information Management: 

  • Collates and logs risk management information as directed by IRMA Khartoum.
  • Assists Risk Management Advisers with preparation of Risk Management Policy documentation.
  • Production of Risk Management related maps.
  • Maintains GIZ Sudan document repository.

3. Coordination and Liaison:

  • Close coordination with projects regarding mission planning.
  • Liaises with National Risk Management Advisers regarding the situation locally across Sudan.

4. Other duties/additional tasks:

  • Any other assignment(s) as may be determined only by the Chief Operations room or the RMA.

Required qualifications, competences and experience:
1. Qualifications:

  • High School education, and/or experience in similar roles in UN, INGO or similar, having a Certificate will be an advantage

2. Professional experience:

  • 3-5 years’ professional experience, with at least 3 years’ professional experience in a comparable position in International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGO) or Bilateral Organisations.

3. Other knowledge, additional competences:

  • Very good written and oral knowledge of English and Arabic.
  • Calm under pressure, and with a capacity to deal with multiple tasks at once.
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
  • Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office).
  • Very organised and structured and process focused.
