Biomedical Engineer

 Background:

In line with the ongoing integration process, the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) has formed the Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases Control Directorate (CNCDCD) under the General Directorate of Primary Health Care in 2013. The CNCDCD will lead the management and coordination of TB, HIV and Malaria disease responses. All functionalities are extracted from the previously vertical programmes, merged, integrated with existing structure to ensure harmonization in planning, implementation and monitoring of activities supported by Global Fund. This includes case management, monitoring and evaluation, supply chain and financial management. CNCDCD will continue to be the main Sub Recipient (SRs) implementing the TB, HIV and Malaria grants’ activities in Sudan ensuring proper service delivery at all levels, health strategic information supporting implementation of surveys and surveillance and capacity building of health workforce. In addition to that, CNCDCD will be offeringtechnical assistance in several clinical and monitoring and evaluation activities. It will also be in charge of managing the funds to support the running costs for health facilities.

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  1. SCOPE OF WORK, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED ANALYTICAL WORK :

Medical equipment of the TB, HIV, malaria and tropical diseases laboratory network at central and state levels and including the digital X – ray machines procured by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.

 

 

 

Tasks:

  1. Install new equipment according to manufactures’ SOPs.
  2. Plan and implement routine preventive maintenance for equipment according to manufacturers’ guidelines and to a schedule for each of equipment.
  3. Train laboratory personnel operating equipment to do simple routine preventive maintenance and monitor compliance of laboratory personnel with maintenance schedule and guidelines.
  4. Train laboratory personnel operating equipment on basic equipment safety measures and monitor compliance of laboratory personnel with equipment safety measures.
  5. Develop and print guidelines for simple routine equipment preventive maintenance and basic safety measures and disseminate to operators at central and state levels. 
  6. Conduct calibration, validation and performance evaluation for old and new equipment.
  7. Provide clear procedure for troubleshooting for each of equipment.
  8. Perform timely fixation of equipment functional defects for defects that are manageable at his/her level.
  9. Guide procurement processes for spare parts necessary for equipment routine preventive maintenance or fixation of functional defects; including writing specifications of spare parts and ensuring procurement of correct spare parts according to specifications.
  10. Follow up implementation of routine preventive maintenance by service providers for equipment whose maintenance is performed by contracted service providers and ensure completeness of maintenance according to manufacturers’ guidelines.
  11. Advise on selection of correct service provider/s for fixation of equipment functional defects that are not manageable at his/her level, ensure resumption of equipment normal functioning and write certificates for completeness of required fixation processes.
  12. Advise and guide processes of disposition of out of date equipment according to guidelines.
  13. Develop and maintain a log book for each of the equipment according to standard.
  14. Any other tasks that deemed necessary for ensuring efficient functioning of CNCDCD medical equipment according to directives of head of CNCDCD Laboratory Coordination Unit.

 

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Mandatory Criteria

  • Bachelor degree of Biomedical engineering.
  • Have minimum of three years of documented practical experience in the medical equipment maintenance.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS word, power point & excel.
  • Agrees to travel to states

Preferable criteria

  • Post graduate certificate
  • Experience with the Laboratory equipment and Digital X-ray Machines.
  • Fluency in oral and written English and Arabic is required
