On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU), GIZ started implementing a project in Kassala and Gedaref. The project aims at improving the livelihoods of the local population and refugees alike in two areas of intervention:
1) Supporting the government and the private sector in improving the quality and availability of market-oriented vocational training for young women and men.
2) Supporting small industry unions in providing business development services (BDS) for employment-oriented growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The GIZ Office in Gedaref is looking for a qualified person to fill the following position: Advisor for organisational development will be stationed in Gedaref with regular duty trips to Kassala and other states, if required.

The advisor is reporting to the Senior Technical Advisor and is responsible for the implementation of demand-oriented vocational and entrepreneurship training to women. The activities are being implemented in Gedaref and Kassala states.
 
As an advisor for organizational development, you are responsible for:

  • Provide an ensure systemic capacity and organizational development to relevant partner organizations.
  • Provide professional advisory services, coaching and trainings to relevant partners of the project to improve their organisational development.
  • Build up personal and institutional capacities of partner organisations and foster their willingness to develop and upgrade their performance.
  • Cooperate with the project partners such as the women section of the craft unions and micro-finance institutions to effectively and independently implement project’s capacity development strategy.
  • Enabling supported partner institutions to develop a plan for sustainable organisational structure.
  • Build up partnerships and networks to promote employment in the private sector.
  • Support the implementation of the program objectives as part of a small multicultural team.
  • Support the project planning and the conceptual development including preparation, organisation and facilitation of planning exercises and their implementation, management, monitoring, evaluation, communication and documentation.

Specifically, your tasks comprise:

  • Carry out comprehensive diagnostic assessments of the organizational capacity of project partner organizations.
  • Prepare long-term coaching plans for building the capacity of the assessed partner organizations tailored to their specific needs.
  • Prepare and conduct trainings to partner organizations based on the assessment.
  • Analyse lessons learnt and compile best practices for project implementation.
  • Develop ready-to-use strategies, innovative initiatives and concepts, including guidelines, manuals and procedures.
  • Draft reports, articles and other written documents in English and Arabic.

Other duties/additional tasks:

  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management.


Qualifications, competences and experience comprehend:

  • University diploma (B.A. or Master) in the areas of business management, development studies or similar fields.
  • At least 2 years proven working experience in organisational development.
  • Ability to demonstrate up to date knowledge of theory and good practice in key areas: Organisation development particularly around change management and developing organisational culture.
  • Experience of, and commitment to, continuous organisational improvement and the ability to act as a change agent.
  • Strong coaching/mentoring skills.
  • Commitment to high standards and continuous improvement.
  • Proven experience in working within international teams.
  • Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies and computer applications (e.g. MS Office).
  • Excellent English and Arabic communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
