The Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) of the Government of Sudan is implementing a Health Systems Strengthening Project (HSS) for co-financing by the Global Alliance for Vaccine & Immunization (GAVI) and the Government. The GAVI (HSS) targets the states with the objectives of: (i) improving the access of conflict-affected and underserved populations to basic health services; and (ii) supporting measures to strengthen health systems through policy and financing reform, infrastructure and equipment investment, and development of human resources for health.

Within the FMOH, the States’ Support Unit had been established under the Planning Department, Directorate General of Planning and International Health with responsibility of Supporting and monitoring and evaluating the Ministries of Heath at states level.

  Duties and responsibilities:

Under direct supervision and guidance of the head of the States’ Support Unit and the HSS Unit, the zonal coordinator will perform the following tasks:

  1. Supporting states’ Ministries of Health and localities in health planning, management and M&E filed.
  2. Follow up the implementation of the activities of the expansion programs in basic health care (the road map). 
  3. Activate coordination between the ministry of health and the health partners in the state.
  4. Supporting in the implementation of the activities of the decentralized health system strengthening.
  5. Follow up with the states the completion and continues updates of the structures and profile.
  6. To  identify the gaps and prepare and implements support and capacity building plan
  7. Conduct Training needs assessment and provision training in leadership, planning and management.
  8. Follow up and support of the implementation of GAVI and GF activities performed by and/or with the states.
  9. Support the states in developing strategic and annual plan in addition to M&E reports.
  10. Any other tasks that found necessary for the success of this work
Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Post graduate qualification at least Master degree or equivalent in Public Health, Community medicine, health development or any other relevant field.

At least 5 years’ experience in health planning and health system strengthening. Preferable to have an experience in working in states.
