 Background:

Save the Children International seeks to create lasting change in children’s lives and is looking for a highly qualified candidate to fill the above position based in Khartoum.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

She/he will be responsible for identifying advocacy issues, preparing and implementing advocacy plans, documentation and communicating lessons and good practices from implementing programs to various users in line with Save the Children’s vision, country strategic plan, and principle of Child Right Programming.

The Child Safeguarding code of conduct is a guide for adults about acceptable and desirable behaviour to protect both adults and children and it should be signed by the role holder because he will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently or intensively.

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Advocacy:

  • Lead the processes of developing an advocacy strategy for the Country programme. 

Undertake critical analysis about the situation of children based on thorough context  and documenting lessons learnt and good practices from Save the Children’s programmes

 

Communication:

  • Develop a communications strategy, guidelines and plan for the country office.
  • Support the development and presentation of contents in articles, stories, photos, messaging, fact sheets and multimedia for Save the Children’s key audience Ensure the branding and communications guidelines of Save the Children are consistent across the country office and field offices.

·         Act as a website editor of Sudan Country Office Internal Communications platform –

 

Media:

·         Act as the media focal point for queries internally and externally and Identify media issues, prepare media messages, after securing the approval of the Country Director.


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in social science, development, journalism or any related field and experience.
  • Masters or postgraduate degree in communications and media will be an added advantage.  At least 5 years of experience in undertaking advocacy, media and communication initiatives in humanitarian and development contexts
  • Strong computer skills to produce advocacy documents and communicate good practices.

She/he at times may be required to work during unusual hours and under stressful and insecure environments
