 Background:

Save the Children International seeks to create lasting change in children’s lives and is looking for a highly qualified candidate to fill the above position. This is a ONE-year contract renewable subject to funding and will be based in Khartoum Country Office.

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

To support the quality design, delivery, and representation of Save the Children’s Education programming and contribute to Save the Children’s mission to create a positive and lasting impact in the lives of children in need,  s/he will provide strategic and operational leadership and assume the overall responsibility for the growth, development and implementation of the education portfolios.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

The Child Safeguarding code of conduct is a guide for adults about acceptable and desirable behaviour to protect both adults and children and it should be signed by the role holder because he will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently or intensively.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Lead the implementation of Save the Children in Sudan’s Education strategy, consistent with organizational goals, the Country Strategic Plan and resource availability. Ensure that programme remains relevant to the external environment and needs of children.
  • Lead and design Country Annual Planning for the Education sector.
  • To provide capacity building and technical support to education staff, partners and government authorities as required.

 

Coordination and Programme Development:

To represent Save the Children at national level Education cluster meetings, technical working group meetings, Ministry of Education meetings, and other relevant forums. To meet regularly and liaise closely with relevant authorities and thematic advisors such as Child Protection Advisor and Health & Nutrition Advisor regarding integrated programming and PDQ team.

 

Working contacts:

Internal: Expected to work with senior management team, other sector Technical Specialists, Education Cluster Co-ordinator, Operations team, Field Managers, Programme Managers & with staff throughout the programme.

External: Expected to develop and maintain personal links and effective relationships with UN (especially UNICEF), NGOs, INGOs, Partners & key stakeholders, counterparts, donors, government Authorities

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

 

·An education professional with a Master’s Degree in education or equivalent

·Significant (at least 5 years) professional experience of working at a senior advisory level in education for international NGOs in complex settings such as  Sudan.
