Job Objective:

·         To create & maintain the Exploration Department's geological databases and ancillary file sets, using appropriate database software- To analyze and report on said data to guide the department's mineral prospecting activities 

·         Create & maintain geological databases using appropriate specialist software;

·         Validate & maintain the integrity of geological datasets, collected by field teams;

·         Identify and implement new geological computer applications to improve the department's field activities;

·         Computer-based generation of above data-derived products (trench & drill logs, cross-sections) for the benefit of the field teams, for reporting and resource modeling purposes;

·         Develop, optimize, maintain and deliver appropriate reports that meet business key performance indicator requirements and timing.

·         Collaborate and develop strategies for implementation of spatial data models and processes to improve data management and delivery systems;.

·         Custodianship of the exploration geochemistry and drilling databases;

·         Train project team members in data management practices and software use;

·         Review existing processes and contribute to process refinement, training, monitoring and documentation;

·         Develop and implement standards, processes and workflows to ensure high quality, timely data products;

·         Update and/or manage exploration databases and contribute to geological data compilation activities. 

Qualification & Requirements:      

·         University degree in Geology

·         Formal qualification in exploration geology

·         Formal qualification in geology-related IT applications

·         Knowledge of exploration geology

·         In-depth knowledge of computer operation, operating systems and miscellaneous specialist geology software

·         Knowledge of database creation and implementation

Experience Required:

·         Proven experience with geological database creation, implementation and maintenance

·         Experience in field geology work

·         Experience with database programming languages

·         Experience with acQuire  geological database software

·         Experience with mineral resource modeling software packages
