 Background:

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :


SFFGC (Sudan Free of Female Genital cutting) Program aims at the abandonment of the FGM practice in Sudan. WHO as a part of the SFFGC joint program is working on reducing the Medicalization rate (FGM performed by Medical Health Providers 39.8 %, SHHS 2010). The main objectives of the program are empowering the target communities and increase their knowledge with focus in building the capacity of the Health Care to establish social movement, with children, adolescents and youth for positive change to end FGM/C. SFFGC program works to identify and support the governmental and nongovernmental actors and structures to generate evidence based data to improve programming and to facilitate social mobilization process for the
eradication of the FGM.

Purpose of the Post:
To provide support in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of all programmatic activities (technical and financial) of SFFGC (Sudan Free of Female Genital Cutting Program). This includes technical input during the planning phase of activities to ensure that the outputs and indicators are within the overall SFFGC M&E framework. To be actively involved in information/data collection,
statistics and data analysis, monitoring, preparation of reports, and building M&E capacity of targeted partners, represent WHO in Monitoring and Evaluation related meetings or as delegated by FGC team Leader.


Organizational Context:


Under the supervision of the SFFGC Team leader and the overall guidance of the WHO Representative Sudan, the incumbent will work closely with the SFFGC team and other programme managers (if needed) contributing to the strategic and operational planning, programming, budgeting, resource coordination mobilization and reporting.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Summary of Assigned Duties:


The incumbent will perform the following duties in consultation with the FGM team leader:
1.Provide technical advice to partners under the SFFGC Program in developing results and monitoring frameworks;
2.Participate in developing annual work plans and maintaining a database of relevant material produced by the implementing partners;
3.Develop a monitoring system to track programmatic and financial progress, Implement M&E activities as per the overall work plan and analyze findings and outcomes of M&E activities on a regular basis;
4.Develop an integrated M&E systems and surveillance systems to collect routine FGM data,
5.Design the required FGM surveys, assess, analyze and ensure timely presentation of the collected data.
6.Advise the program implementation partners on how to prepare their progress reports aligned with the developed monitoring systems;
7.Collect and analyze data contributing to the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports to be submitted to SFFGC Program Management as well as ensuring proper documentation and effective capturing of the process and results.
8.Conduct field visits to SFFGC Program States to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the program activities.


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education:
Essential: University degree in Public Health, or Demography, or Statistics.
Desirable: Degree or training in information management system and their application to project management monitoring and evaluation.

Functional Skills and Knowledge:
-Broad knowledge of women's Health, especially FGM Programs

-Very good knowledge or understanding of donor agreements and reporting requirements, as well as UN financial rules.
-Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure; tact, discretion and diplomacy.

 

Other Skills (e.g. IT):
-Proficiency in MS Office, statistical packages, database functions and other relevant computer technologies.
 

 

Experience:
Essential: At least 2 years of relevant experience in project design and management, project monitoring evaluation or reporting and documentation especially for field projects; compilation of data and MIS.
Desirable: Experience in women and girls health or FGM in WHO, the UN System, and/or a governmental or non-governmental organization at national or international level.

 

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English and local language.
