 Background:

Heavy machinery sales managers are responsible for organizing a team of sales people and devising strategies for the team to use to maximize sales and customer loyalty.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Determining annual unit and gross-profit plans by implementing marketing strategies; analyzing trends and results
  • Establishing sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products
  • Maintaining and increasing sales of your company's products
  • Reaching the targets and goals set for your area
  • Establishing, maintaining and expanding your customer base
  • Servicing the needs of your existing customers
  • Increasing business opportunities through various routes to market
  • Setting sales targets for individual reps and your team as a whole
  • Recruiting and training sales staff
  • Allocating areas to sales representatives
  • Developing sales strategies and setting targets
  • Monitoring your team's performance and motivating them to reach targets
  • Compiling and analyzing sales figures
  • Possibly dealing with some major customer accounts yourself
  • Collecting customer feedback and market research
  • Review monthly the best monitoring sales report with management to determine if goals and objectives are being met.
  • Reporting to senior managers
  • Keeping up to date with products and competitors
