Background: Organizational Context:
The Programme Associate will work as part of a team coordinated by the Representative, Deputy Representative and the Assistant Representative to provide integrated programme and technical support fundamental to UNFPA’s overall strategy. Under the direct supervision of the P&D Program Analyst, the Programme Associate is expected to assist in the overall management of administrative, financial and technical issues in support of P&D and Youth interventions, ensuring high quality, accuracy, and timeliness of work. S/he is expected to support to CO, sub offices and partnering IPs in matters related to PD profile. S/he should contribute to the development and effective implementation of the UNFPA work by providing programming, financial and administrative support to UNFPA and its implementing partners. As appropriate, s/he will also contribute to research, financial management and operational and procedural guidance.
Work Relations: The Programme Assistant works with and provides support to the members of the Country Office Programme Team, Operation and Finance Team, staff of sub-offices, and the implementing partners. This objective is to work in an integrated approach teaming so as to achieve the common goals and shared objectives, and demonstrate personal commitment to UNFPA’s mandate and vision. The Programme Associate establishes and maintains internal and external contacts including exchange of information on broader aspects of the work area, such as providing clarification of work-related non-routine matters requiring technical input. |

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: Academic Requirements: Completed Secondary Level Education required. First level university degree in public administration, finance, economics other social sciences related disciplines is desirable. Experience: Minimum six years’ of relevant experience particularly in providing general support on information management, research, basic financial and program monitoring; and administration. Knowledge of program and project management processes, especially experience in population and development-related projects management. Previous experience in the UN is an advantage; Languages: Fluency in oral and written English and Arabic. Computer skills: Mastery of computer software related to spreadsheet, data base, visual presentations and data processing. Hands on skills in ATLAS, Word, Excel, and Power-Point are assets. Others:
