‘CDF Consultants Roster’

 

1- Child Development Foundation ‘CDF’, the organization:

Child Development Foundation ‘CDF’ is a Sudanese child oriented organization registered under Sudanese act for voluntary with HAC on 1999, the organization working predominantly with and for children and the often vulnerable families they belong toat the child welfare field both at advocacy and programming aspects such as protection, education, FTR, awareness, child labor preventive interventions and other relevant deliverables. With considerable allocation to the youth ‘male and female’ and vulnerable women. CDF’s vision is that every needy children come from needy household ‘HHs’, needy economical environment, it’s therefore working to improve their HHs livelihood by diversifying their income sources thru different life skill enhancing deliverables with ultimate goal of strengthen their protective capacity for their children.

The organization has sub offices in West Darfur, South Darfur, Kassala and Algadarif states as well as its Khartoum state office and HQ in Khartoum, these network of offices administered by Executive Directorate. The financial operations are handled by its field financial officers and centralized automated – under development-manager in Khartoum. CDF used to handling an external annual financial audit for its financial transactions of the funded projects and regular expenditure for its respective donors such as CHF, EU, UN agencies and, international organizations. Guidance policies such as procurement, HR, finance, administration manuals and strategic plan are in place.
 

2- Ongoing, upcoming and expected projects

Emergency

Concentrating in IDPs and refugees camps in crisis and emergency areas, both a human made and natural e.g. provision of basic life needs for recently displaced people, distribution of food and NFIs, shelters, environment programs and sanitation.

Livelihood

Targeting most vulnerable groups such as women headed HHs, youth, ambitious women, elders, outskirts and rural communities that away of modern livelihood opportunities.

Livelihood interventions are also being introduced as a protection deliverable to the children’s most poor families as well as for homeless children as reintegration package in form of IGAs including, but not limited to, vocational training and / or an apprenticeship followed by provision of toolkits to facilitate their integration into the labor market.

Protection

Mainly in the field of child protection and related interventions; constructing and running of child friendly spaces, family tracing and reunification ‘FTR’, nutrition, psychosocial support, counselling, GBV awareness and treatment, child labor prevention, homeless social inclusion and reintegration, disability care, motherhood care and RH deliverables as well as the overall complementary components such as formation and capacity building of the protection network and necessary awareness package.

This field is a CDF continuous activities in its both state level and HQ in partnership with international line actors and governmental concerned entities.

Youth Development

The organization has previous intervention in favor of youthin manner constructing and appropriately equipping of youth centers, capacity building training courses...etc.  An ambitious project with more deliverables such as vocational training, computer science training, psychosocial support and counselling and provision of adolescents and youth friendly services in youth centers and schools is now being implemented with appropriate fund from UNICEF and partnership with the State Ministries of Youth in both Kassala and West Darfur, it’s now in its finalstages with possibility of extension for another lifecycle with additionalpackage of deliverables. CDF is planning to expand its concentration on this group not only because are vulnerable to the economical circumstances only but also are potential actors for positive social change.

Quick Impact Projects ‘QIP’

Mostly in West and South Darfur with the UNAMID AND other UN agencies fund, focusing on building and rehabilitation of schools, basic health care facilities, water hand pumps…etc.

Two QIP projects are now being implemented in West Darfur….

  • Gender concern is crosscutting issue for the CDF fields of interventions and development of rural women is at the CDF focus.
     

3- Partnership

CDF has strategic / long-term partnership with CARE International Switzerland ‘CIS’ in manner that CIS used to provide technical support for CDF in capacity building, planning and implementation of the projects, CDF has also invested in this link to initiate and develop a field partnership with GOAL resulted in joint field team for the sub project of REFLECT.

The organization has steady fund from UN agencies and UNAMID allocated to the protection and quick impact projects related interventions in Darfur.

In Kassala; European Commission, PLAN Sudan andUN agencies are also funding the organization’s activities in the state.

World Vision, ILO and Save Children Sweden are also providing valuable support for the organization’s interventions in Khartoum state.

The organization has an easy access to and direct communication with the communitieswhere it works as well as wide spread CBOs and protection networks amid its target communities.

CDF has consultative attribute in the UN economic and social council ‘ECOSOC’– Geneva, as well as being a member in Sudanese Civil Organization and Voluntary Associations. It’s also a member in many child advocacy committee and Governmental entities such as Childhood Welfare Council.
 

4- The purpose of this invitation

CDF is occasionally conducting field studies; surveys, midterm and final evaluation, labor market survey, education needs assessment, value chain studies, validation studies, capacity assessment, policies and strategies development and other fields of consultancy services that usually conducted thru an external consultants ‘firm or free-lance consultant’. It’s now building its consultants roster and hereby inviting acapable consultants to apply for this opportunity.
 

5- Who is eligible to apply?

Sudanese national consultants of relevant experience in the above mentioned fields that CDF is working in, Sudanese free-lance consultants who have previous experience with international NGOs, UN agencies or similar institutions, consultancy firms that working in the humanitarian and development fields are invited to apply.
