Background: UNDP is key partner to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund) and is the UN agency assuming the role of Principal Recipient for Global Fund grants in Sudan. In the role of Principal Recipient, UNDP is responsible for the financial and programme management of the Global Fund grants as well as procurement of pharmaceutical, non-health items and required services. In all areas of implementation, UNDP provides support to relevant institutions, sub-recipients and implementing partners to ensure the timely and effective execution of the Global Fund programs. UNDP has an active project implementation agreement with the Federal Ministry of Health aimed at strengthening the health systems in Sudan. The Directorate General of Planning and International Health is the Sub-recipient for this programme. Since 2012, the Directorate General of Planning and International Health has also established a dedicated project management team at the Federal Ministry of Health to implement this Health Systems Strengthening Project Financed by the Global Fund through UNDP. In addition to the Global Fund Programme, the team is also implementing related programme financed by the GAVI. Similarly, UNDP has agreements with the national disease programmes of HIV, TB and Malaria. The Project Implementation Support (PIS) Consultant is expected to facilitate the execution of project tasks and support MoH team to ensure timely and effective implementation of this project. |

Duties and responsibilities: The Project Implementation Support (PIS) Consultant is expected to facilitate the execution of project tasks and support MoH team to ensure timely and effective implementation of this project. Under the direct supervision of the grant managers of HIV, TB, Malaria and HSS, and in coordination with the MoH departments, the Consultant ensures the timely implementation of the projects signed between UNDP and the Ministry of Health in regards to stated objectives.
