The Office of the United Nations for the Coordination and Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) in the Sudan is seeking for a qualified candidate for the following positions:

 Background:

Under the overall management of the Admin/Finance Officer and the direct supervision of the ICT /Analyst, the ICT Associate will provide ICT and administrative support services to the ICT section, provide daily technical support to users of information management tools and technology infrastructure. The ICT Associate will promote a client oriented approach. The ICT Associate will work in close collaboration with the Front Office, Area Coordinators, field offices, Program and Operations teams within OCHA Sudan to provide a first line support to all staff members of OCHA Sudan in all ICT related issues.


 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Summary of key functions: Implementation of OCHA’s ICT management systems and strategies Effective functioning of the organization’s hardware and software packages Provision of first level end-user support. Provision of Support to the networks and mailing systems administration Provision of administrative support within the admin and the ICTS. Facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing between the team members as well as within the organization. 2. Ensures effective functioning of the organization’s hardware and software packages, focusing on the achievement of the following results: Provision of first line Support to the users operation, troubleshooting, backing up and restoration of their data as well as performing on-demand, periodical/frequent on- line/off-line maintenance and troubleshooting routines. Performance of specific technical functions, including changing of hardware electronic components (disks, memories, network wiring, etc.) and routine repairs. Assistance in the installation of commercial and in-house developed software and related upgrades Support in upgrading patch updates and maintenance programs (Anti-viral packages, utilities etc...) on an efficient timely basis. Monitoring of the server’s traffic, usage and performance on a frequent and regular basis. 3. Supports Mailing system and networks administration, focusing on achievement of the following results: Support trouble-shooting and monitoring of network problems. Response to user needs and questions regarding network access. Implementation of backup and restoration procedures for local drives. Support to organization of off-site storage of backups. Support the administration of the Domino based servers operations and backup procedures.  Performing all mailing inventory related activities. 4. Provides administrative support, focusing on achievement of the following results: Maintenance of an up-to-date inventory of software and hardware. Maintenance of a library of ICT related reference materials. Maintenance of the inventory and stock of supplies, consumables and spare parts related to the ICT section operations. Preparation of statistical charts, tables and reports related to the ICT section as required. Provision of ICT support to key events. 5. Ensures efficient network administration, focusing on achievement of the following results: • Monitoring of the computing resources to provide a stable and responsive environment. • Implement installation of servers in all the sub offices. • Operation of network utility procedures defining network users and security attributes establishing directories, menus and drive-mappings, configuring network printers and providing user access. • Monitoring of backup and restoration procedures for both server and local drives. • Timely upgrade of LAN infrastructure and Internet connectivity to meet OCHA requirements. 6. Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing within the organization, focusing on achievement of the following results: Participation and support within the organization to provide knowledge and training for the staff members on OCHA’s ICT standard issues and organizational platforms and application packages. Performance of miscellaneous related activities as guided by the ICT Section Officer/admin manager.  Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education: Secondary School Certificate is required. Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following relevant fields: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications. • Relevant certification in hardware, software management and networking are desirable but not required.. Experience: 7 years of relevant working experience, including networks’ administration, support to management of hardware and software platforms, telecommunications facilities, knowledge of Windows-based Packages/applications. • Domino Servers’ administration experience and Lotus Notes client Knowledge is a must. Language Requirements: • Fluency in oral and written English is essential.
