  Background:

Kassala State together with Red Sea and Gedaref comprise what is known as Eastern Sudan. These states share a number of characteristics historically, ethnically, socially and politically. They share the experience of long standing underdevelopment and chronic poverty. With the outbreak of armed conflict in 1995 and its resolution through the Eastern Sudan Peace Agreement (ESPA) signed in October 2006, the interlinkages among the states were further entrenched. The project is pursuing an integrated approach in order to meet its objectives of food security. Through the perspective of a value chain development approach it seeks market-oriented sustainable solutions to overcome poverty and food insecurity. It combines interventions in the sphere of agricultural and livestock production with interventions in the agricultural technology and agro-based micro- to small enterprise development sphere.


  Duties and responsibilities:

1.Manage the day-to-day technical implementation of the programme activities and intervention of IFSP- UNIDO in Kassala State 2.Assist in the development of Value chain approach and framework for selected value chains 3.Conduct training for beneficiaries and related counterparts in the field of agriculture related technology 4.Prepare training manuals, maintenance sheet for introduced agriculture implements. 5.Assisting the PC in the technical work-plan implementation; 6.Assist in monitoring technical implementation progress and in annual planning and budgeting. 7.Assist the CTA with the preparation of quarterly reports, project progress, and any other relevant programme documents 8.Assist the PC with technical specifications, procurement, fabrication assembly and delivery of technical project implements 9.Participate in local tender evaluation exercise (in UNIDO HQ); 10.Monitor supply of project inputs, plan for the provision of inland transport, loading, offloading 11.assist with selection, procurement and installation of equipment for upgrading cooperating local craftsmen and training partners; 12.In cooperation with UNIDO Field Office in Khartoum, assist in the procurement and delivery of goods and equipment as specified in the project document and other relevant documents 13.Together with partner organizations, assist in village selection and finalize village selection and beneficiary list 14.Assist in the preparation project information sheet and beneficiary application forms for village participatory meetings; 15.Maintain strong cooperation with MoA extension department and particular with the agriculture mechanization unit 16.Carry out necessary translation of project information such as Technical Specifications and handbooks for the target group into Arabic and where applicable into other important local languages; likewise, translate Arabic documents sent to the Project Office in to English 17.provide inputs to training programme development and actual training for cooperating institutions and local craftsmen in fabrication and assembly that will include equipment and facilities, component and spare parts storage 18.propose and design storage facilities for project inputs; 19.design a basic record-keeping/book-keeping system for fabrication blacksmiths 20.Monitor supply of project inputs and plan inland transport, loading, offloading of same 21.Assist the PC in set up and regularly update records for equipment procured and distributed 22.Support the CTA with written and verbal translation to and from Arabic, during meetings and workshops. 23.Prepare monthly technical reports on project implementation, training sessions conducted, equipment purchased and lists of beneficiaries.
 
Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

1.Master Degree in Agriculture mechanisation/engineering 2.At least 5 years of professional experience in agriculture mechanisation/engineering or vocational training 3.Strong demonstrated logistic and leadership skills 4.Proven problem solving and organizational skills. Good team-worker, excellent communication skills, sensitive to gender issue and capable to operate and interact in a volatile political environment. 5.Working experience in Kassala state areas would be an asset. 6.Computer literate and proficient in working with windows applications Language: Fluent in English and Arabic, written and oral. Knowledge of other regional languages is an asset
